The list included 35 feet of hair, 28 square feet of mesh wire, a foot of gauze and 200 hairpins. Just to get to that point, they had to invest about $300 in equipment, which they carried on the plane to London. They used mesh wire and Ace bandages to improvise a 1-foot foundation that fit on the head of Laura Kelley, a Bangz hairdresser and their model. They had to have the vision to conceive of the project (their inspiration was a National Enquirer picture of the world’s largest hairstyle), but the main problem was how to do it.Ĭarden said they had to construct a base that would support such a tall extension of hair. Morrison and Carden, both 32, are ambitious businessmen who hope someday to have Bangz salons all over Florida.Ī can-do attitude was essential with the beehive. Turnover is low at Bangz because of the teamwork philosophy, Carden said. They handle one another’s customers (as long as the customer is willing) to improve salon productivity. Morrison said Bangz hairdressers have learned not to be as possessive of clients as are hairdressers at other salons. Most important, the partners said, the beehive triumph has taught their employees that teamwork yields results. “Burpee seeds used the world’s largest cantaloupes.” “Why not?” Carden reasoned about the advertisement. In constructing the beehive, they used 22 cans of this particular hair spray, called Lamaur. And they hope to get free national publicity by persuading a hair-spray company to use a photograph of the beehive in advertisements. They already have used photographs of the beehive in advertisements. They think customers will mention it to friends, who will decide to have their hair done at Bangz. Morrison and Carden have a strategy for exploiting the record. “I was thrilled,” Morrison said, speaking in the posh lobby of the downtown Bangz, where customers sip white wine and read Connoisseur magazine (or the Guinness Book of World Records) as they wait to have their hair done. Only a few weeks ago did their advance copy of the book arrive. Only last October did they learn that their record would be included in the 1988 Guinness edition. “You don’t usually get that in this business.” “What we were trying to do was get the employees to see that with a team effort, anything, no matter how farfetched, is achievable,” Carden said. It was a period of unease, knowing that failure would send the troops the wrong signal. They followed those instructions and waited. They visited Guinness headquarters in London to get instructions on how to document their record. From the bobs to the Cher looks, here is Dua Lipa’s hair evolution from 2015 all the way to today.Though they got some press coverage in London, they knew they wanted to pursue immortality, and even more coverage, by getting into Guinness. Whether you’ve followed Dua Lipa from the beginning or are just starting to understand what a powerhouse this pop queen is, you’ll be in awe of just how many different hairstyles she’s rocked in the last eight years. And with Dua being a co-chair for the 2023 Met Gala, she’s sure to pull out another iconic look, from head to toe. I don’t think the singer could last a whole year without changing up her hair at least a little. Instead, she finds a new style for each era of her life. There’s no single hairstyle that defines Dua. But what really stands out is how often she changes her hair. She even created her own new style of hair dye to kick off 2022. She’s done e-girl bangs, practically started the split-dye trend, and is willing to play with length. What makes Dua Lipa’s hair evolution so fun is that she’s unafraid to try new things. The pop star doesn’t shy away from a vibrant and daring hair color change-up or a shocking new ‘do, so in honor of her seat at the top of the pop and hair food chain, here’s a look back at Dua Lipa’s hair evolution over the years. But it isn’t just her singles that leave fans obsessed and wanting more - it’s also her show-stopping commitment to changing up her look. Like, talk about taking a rocket ship straight to stardom. After being signed in 2015, she’s since won three Grammys and six Brit Awards, and routinely produces hit after hit, from the classic “New Rules” to her latest track, “Potion,” with Calvin Harris and Young Thug. Dua Lipa has quickly become one of the most popular pop singers in the industry in an incredibly short amount of time.
